220 Days

28 Dec

It has been 220 days. Hard to believe.

Let’s pick up where I left off before my life changed horribly. I had lost my weight and was getting ready to have a huge spinal scoliosis surgery. Where’d I go before that? What happened?!

One of a kind.

One of a kind.

220 days ago on May 23, 2012, I got a call that nearly killed me and my soul. Remember Best Friend? The Best Friend that I wrote about early on who shaped who I am today and that I loved unconditionally every day for 20 years? Who I talked to every day for 20 years? Who, together, we handled relationships, marriages, disasters, loves, life, some Bad Damn Bosses and a million billion memories in between? Best Friend committed suicide on May 23, 2012.

It was 5 weeks before my surgery. I can’t even begin to describe my shock and despair. I’m amazed I’m still here and breathing. I will write more about this later, but know I have survived the worst thing I ever could have imagined and I’ve had some damn doozies in this life. I lost my Best Friend. A lot had to be done to pick up the pieces of her life – her dogs, her home, all our memories. It was a task I would not wish on my worst enemy (if I had one). But, I wake up every day and I’m still here. Does that make sense?

Living Dilbert is still here. She nearly died from this loss, but damn if she is not still here.

Lisbeth, this one is for you. I hope you are in a better place, free of anguish. Know that I love you, I miss you and I hope to see you again one day. You were an amazing, kind, giving human being that I wish loved herself as much as those of us around you. The world is not quite as bright now, but I will find a way.

I am going to celebrate the incredible person you were…and therefore, who I am.

Someone has to carry on your priceless sarcasm, right?

Everyone Needs a Day Off!

1 Aug

I planned to post this weekend, but was so busy working on my move in with Main Squeeze!   Oh, did I not mention that?  Yep, it’s true.   In two weeks…

In the meantime, who of you have heard of Freecyle?   Do you have that in your town?  It is only the coolest thing ever!  Thank you Office1 for introducing me!   JUST this weekend, I gave away a dryer, a dresser AND a futon and get this…very nice folks came and GOT them!   Have you ever heard of such a thing?   I consider it “paying it forward” and helping the earth…and it felt damn nice to do something good.   Too bad you can’t Freecycle Bad Boss’, but I may try it.

Why the hell am I in a good mood on a Sunday night?  Why have I been nearly giddy all week?   Bad Boss a/k/a Teeny Peeny is out next week…all week and even in another state!    Hot damn!!!

I hope you all have had a fantastic weekend and did something you really enjoyed.  The HELL of Monday will soon return.

Be Kind to Your Behind

25 Jul

I admit I heard this title line from another source.   Can anyone tell me from where?   Hint:  TV commercial – I’d never noticed that line til yesterday and it was my Line of the Day.   Made me chuckle.

Do you know why Sundays are almost as nice as Saturdays?  It has to do with the day of rest thing.  I like to practice my resting by sitting on my behind most of the day…reading, recharging, relaxing.

Hope YOU had a fabulous Sunday too – resting your soul…in preparation for Monday.

Tomorrow – Going Undercover

Refresh and Renew

10 Jul

Thank GOD…we made it to Saturday !  Are you all celebrating?  I’m going to…I’m going to celebrate the fact that I have washed the stench of this morgue off me for two whole days!

We’ve got some crazy stuff going on at work.  As I said a few weeks ago, the building didn’t love Bad Bosses idea of not paying our rent anymore and playing “hardball” with them, so they are taking back 1/2 our space!   I find it downright amusing watching Bad Boss’ stew about the fact that they have to move a lot of their crap.   Of course on Friday they started looking at me about what they should do.  Bad Boss got so nervous he ran home with his little tail tucked between his legs at 2:30.  He sure disproves the real meaning of, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  He’s interpreted that to mean, “run for your  life and shirk all responsibility!”   I think the next few weeks are going to provide some excellent posts!

So, on that note….eff them and their move and their crappy business and their crappy, self-serving attitudes for the weekend!   Bad Boss, who?   It’s time for me to relax, recharge and rejoice.  They can all kiss my shiney hiney.

Tomorrow – I’m Not Going Outside Until October

Hot Damn!

3 Jul

I don’t have a whole lot to say that is snarky.   Why?  It is the start of a THREE-DAY WEEKEND!!!  It is one of my favorites too!

In other news, Bad Boss made me SO effing mad on Friday as he volunteered my services to another partner to do something totally unrelated to our firm!!!  It wasn’t just any task either…it was an impossible one at the hour of the day on a Friday.  I shot him a look, he walked out of the room proud of himself and I proceeded to throw some papers!  Mature, huh?  Well, it bit me in the ass because a page flew up and gave me a paper cut on my neck.  I had to laugh…

Ok, hopefully soon it will be a distant memory….NO more work thoughts for today!  I have to go put antibiotic ointment on my paper cut.   Bastard.  I hope he has some potato salad this weekend in which the mayonnaise has turned !

Have a GREAT Saturday!

(Forgive the fact there are no pictures….I’m in a top-secret location and using a Mac….but, can’t seem to figure out how to attach pictures!  It doesn’t work the same way as my plain ole laptop.  I’ll figure it out if it kills me….)

Tomorrow – July 4, the Real Independence Day

Reasons Saturdays Rule

5 Jun

Do we really even need any reasons?   I think not!  However, for fun…let me just throw out a few –

  • Saturday is a weekend/rest/non-work day in most countries.
  • Saturday is the official day of rest in Israel, on which all government offices and most businesses, including some public transportation, are closed.
  • Saturday morning is a notable television time block aimed at children while airing generally animated cartoons. (ha…my favorite!)
  • It is common for clubs, bars and restaurants to be open later on Saturday night than on other nights.
  • In folklore, Saturday was the preferred day to hunt vampires, because on that day they were restricted to their coffins. It was also believed in the Balkans that someone born on Saturday could see a vampire when it was otherwise invisible, and that such people were particularly apt to become vampire hunters.  Accordingly, in this context, people born on Saturday were specially designated as sabbatianoí in Greek.
  • A large majority of football league games are played in the UK on a Saturday.
  • In Amherst, Nova Scotia, the Holiday ‘Good Saturday’ is celebrated by everybody giving a cake to each other.
  • …and unlike Sunday in the South, you can still buy alcohol on Saturday!!! (I added this one for free.)

Thanks to Wikipedia for this great info!  (

I was just thinking, Bad Boss is a blood-sucker and I only see him Monday – Friday.  Perhaps Saturday would be a good day to search for him in his coffin and drive a stake through his heart.

Tomorrow – Finding Saturday on Sunday

Happy Days

30 May

A happy day on a Sunday?   Well, it all comes back to that “taking back” my Sundays.  However, this one is extra easy because it’s a three-day weekend!  Whoopee!!!

Fine.  I miss Big Brother.  There is something so strong about that bond and with our parents being gone…he is my one bit of true blood family.  Spending time with BB, his incredible wife and my niece was the trifecta.   I saw them for two days and I cried when I left.  Me, big, tough Living Dilbert.

Good thing I have an extra day to recover with Main Squeeze.   A magnificent Sunday will include sleeping late, lots of coffee, lounging and an alcohol-infused visit with great friends on their new deck.   I can relax because I can sleep late Monday too.  What else could we ask for?   I’m going to pretend that I have amnesia until Tuesday morning.   Bad Boss, who??

Tomorrow – In Their Honor

Lazy on a Sunday Afternoon

23 May

…and I’m obviously lazy, because I’m just now getting out my post!   Hearing about my regular life may be a little boring, but it’s been a good day!  Went to hear a friend sing in her choir at church.  Can you believe it?  Living Dilbert went to church!   I was not raised in any type of organized religion, so I usually find churches a little intimidating, but today was lovely and she did such a great job.

Sunday afternoons are great for relaxing, being with friends OR…doing some dreaded cleaning.  Since Living Dilbert  has to clean up after others at work, I rarely like to clean at home!   However, tumbleweeds are beginning to pass me as I go down the hall and I’m going to have to make an exception in my cleaning practices.   Home is my refuge, so it would be cool if it was a bit nicer.

Hope you all are having a lovely Sunday afternoon doing whatever you are doing.   Let’s all be thankful it isn’t Monday!

Tomorrow – The Stupidest Thing I’ve Ever Heard

Saturday, Blissful Saturday

22 May

Thank God, I made it.  It is Saturday!!!   Yippee!

Reasons to love Saturday?

Coffee in bed, birds singing, sun shining (or rain falling….I don’t really care), no ringing phones, no Bad Boss faces in mine, no overt stupidity to handle, precious time with Main Squeeze, more coffee, maybe a little candy, a movie?, good times with friends, new restaurants, pjs, newspaper…books.    Life!!!

I hope you enjoy your weekend too!  Thank for so much for reading and it’s such a huge pleasure hearing from you all.  I can’t tell you how much it helps my days with Bad Boss!

Tomorrow – Lazy on a Sunday Afternoon

Taking Back Sunday

16 May

I’ve spent a couple of posts on how much I DREAD Mondays and this intense dread usually begins on Sunday almost as soon as I wake up.  I’m going to try something a little new.  Maybe I can try to enjoy all of Sunday up until the time I fall asleep on Sunday night and leave the dread for Monday…until Monday morning.   Dealing with Bad Boss is fricking bad enough five days a week, why give him any part of my weekend?!   Screw him!  I’m taking back my Sunday!  I’m going to try it…starting today…and fully enjoy my Sundays.  I’ll let you know.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Sunday too!   Enjoy it while you can!

Tomorrow – Don’t Bite the Hand That Feeds You
