About

Thoughts of a tired, cynical office administrator trapped in a small corporate law firm somewhere in the U.S.    The stories I relate are 100% true (sadly).   Shockingly, I am still sane, but do have more gray hair….and sometimes a nervous twitch in my right eyelid…

I truly think Scott Adams (who is the creator of Dilbert, the cartoon) is a genius.  I am a huge fan and have been for years…he nails corporate life perfectly.  For a good laugh from the true Dilbert, go to www.dilbert.com !  I do not claim any affiliation, only admiration.

Thanks for reading!!

Dropped by to check out your blog. It’s been years since I’ve lived corporate America but your posts still made me laugh. Mostly cause I can still remember those days (with that same nervous eyetwitch). You are hilarious, succinct and a pleasure to read. 😉 Christy

This is the first day I have seen your blog, and I love it! I used to work in the corporate business world, and it made me miserable. Your posts are both insightful and very funny. Keep up the excellent work! Cheers!

You are my secular doppelganger. Please write a book! I would gladly contribute my experience. Here’s one: I had a boss who asked me to take in his drycleaning. No biggie. But first he wanted me to SMELL THE ARMPITS OF HIS SUIT COATS

I like your new page layout. I also like the Mood Indicator!

    • livingdilbert May 12, 2010 at 2:43 pm #

Thank you! I think I’m going to have fun with that Mood Indicator! Perhaps even change it during the day…since my mood often changes depending on Bad Boss.

A bit late on this, but woohoo for 10,000 hits! Congrats on your well-deserved success. It’s a bitter-sweet sentiment really, bitter in that if you’re still blogging about this, you’re still w/ the terrible cast of characters, but sweet in that your writing is hilarious and strangely cathartic for so many! 🙂

Love this idea. I used to work in a corporate setting. I was sitting in a two hour meeting about how to have a meeting. It really was a dilbert moment.

Really enjoy your blog. I am a recovering corporate attorney. You have captured both the spirit-numbing, soul sucking environment and the grammer school for the dim-witted interpersonal dynamics of that world perfectly.

I am officially a big fan

From one administrative assistant to another…. I really like your blog, and all you have to say. I root for you! Thank you for the add; I suppose I should have asked first, but your blog is too awesome not to share!

Good grief, I honestly thought things like Dilbert and The Office were supposed to be funny…I didn’t realize they were documentaries until it was too late.

    • cb July 11, 2015 at 1:16 pm #

Sadly true – I had to stop reading Dilbert for a while because it was too painfully true to life. Eventually I developed the mentality that if my situation were a movie or a TV show that I would pay good money for the humor. I learned to detach myself and enjoy the situation for its true humor potential.

This is great stuff! I am an admin in a government office, and while government and corperate offices may have some differences, I’m glad to know that the general plight of our our kind is universal. I always thought that incompetence and idiocy where reserved for the government sector. I’m glad to know that I was wrong, and that I’m not alone!

Oh, by the way, I think you should definately start writing that book. =)

Found your blog through Rumbly Cottage…and I love it!
I so wish I would’ve read this back in my Bad Boss days. It probably could have shed a little humor on my close-to-having-a-heart-attack days!

    • livingdilbert February 11, 2011 at 3:08 pm #

Thank you!!! I hope you get a lot of laughs! I’ll still be telling stories, even though I finally escaped…..I’m glad YOU don’t have any more Bad Boss days!

What an awesome idea for a blog! I’ll be keeping up with this one for sure!

I love writers that can deliver articles about serious matters and turn them into sarcastic points of views so I decided to start my own blog. Thanks for the inspiration and If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, I’d love to link up. Sorry for asking here, I know its not the best venue but thanks for the consideration and any feedback would be much appreciated. Regards, Woodnote1.

How about a little escapism? Even there in OMG I’m gonna screamville can they take a little jaunt away from you.

    Cruising

    • livingdilbert June 12, 2015 at 11:57 am #

Escapism and my “pretend if I could” have saved me many a time. I started sharing them with Kick-ass Coworker to help her cope. She’s a bit newer to law firm life. Now she loves to play along. For example, if the little sweaty one is giving her 42 docs to revise when his own secretary is there (we are NOT allowed to say no). Ivevtsught her to envision going in his office and just slapping him upside his sweaty bald head and calmly walking out without a word. I like to think I a have an active imagination, which is the best escapism. Sometimes we just go eat mac n cheese! Thanks again for your comment. I like them!

fun stuff … you just need to get your self an angel with an angel or you could use the pick me up a friend sent to me when I was having a day with a couple people when they ask how you can smile and you think, “I’ve already killed you 3 times in my head”.
